What types of training does the VAWT Program offer?

The VAWT Program offers training in areas relating to violence against women from experts in the field. Each year the VAWT Program conducts a three day training for law enforcement professionals.

What is the criterion to attend training provided by the VAWT Program?

Applicants who are Licensed Texas Peace Officers or Telecommunicators/9-1-1 Dispatchers and employed by an agency in a full time capacity are eligible to attend a VAWT Training.

What are the fees associated with attending a VAWT Training?

The cost of any training is provided free* of charge to selected attendees. Attendees are responsible for travel fees (driving to and from the training location, parking, etc.), meals while attending the training, and any shoulder dates prior to/after the training.

Will I get TCOLE Credit for attending a training provided by the VAWT Program?

All attendees will receive TCOLE Credit after completing the training and after all attendance records have been verified. Attendees will not receive partial credit or report of hours if they did not complete the training or missed a session or section/day of training. Credit will be listed under Law Seminar and Course # 3196.

Can I use the training as a substitute for any of the SAFVIC Courses (24 hr. SAFVIC, SAFVIC for TCP’s, and SAFVIC-Human Trafficking)?

The training provided by the VAWT Program cannot be substituted for any SAFVIC Course.

Will the training make me eligible for the TCOLE Special Investigator Proficiency Certificate

The training provided by the VAWT Program is not eligible for the TCOLE Special Investigator Proficiency Certificate or any other certification.
